Week 1 in the books

Biggest Loser week 1 is in the books...and what a successful 1st week.  We officially have 46 people competing for a pot of just under $1,000.  When I started this I never imagined this type of response, but I am loving it!  It has been a bit of work organizing with all the money, weigh ins, etc. but it has provided me with endless motivation as I see the amount of excitement the contest has generated.  I posted something to our wall on Facebook yesterday and it really is what the contest is about...yes we all want to win the jackpot...and we need the number on the scale to be significantly lower than that first weigh in...but really I think people are looking for a community to belong to that will help them find the motivation they need to be better, healthier, fitter versions of themselves in 2013! Let's get at it!

Biggest Loser

So a few friends contacted me after the New Year asking when we would start a Biggest Loser contest...I had talked about it with a few friends in the past and we always thought it would be fun but never got around to making it happen.  So with my marathon training starting up, and my weight at an all time high, I figured now was as good a time as ever.  But why stop at a few close friends?  I took it to Facebook and the interest was amazing...we capped the competition at 45 participants!  How awesome is that?  For me it was extra motivation to keep working hard and keep sharing my experiences to help get others active and healthy...

I figured what better time to start up my blog again...it has a way of keeping me on track, and if it helps a few of you with some added motivation along the way...then awesome!  As for the success of the contest...that is yet to be seen, but if 45 of us are making an effort to get healthy in 2013 then success is bound to happen!

Where have I been?!

So...although I have been quite the adventurer this summer...I have not been a good blogger...I have discovered a few new social media/online journal sites geared to adventure...and well I have found myself spending all my time posting them!  I will do better updating, but in the mean time wanted to share my new favorite site: Venturepax

I discovered this site last summer, but a few weeks ago they relaunched and have made it more user friendly and it seems as if the community is growing...so check out my personal Venturepax page to see what I have been up to this summer: Venturepax.com/Keli.Rupert!!!! Lots to see from local Blue Hill training hikes and trail runs to our weekend hikes in the Whites including 2 spectacular day hikes!!!

All this hiking got me thinking about joining the Appalachian Mountain Club...for a few reasons...It could be a great way to meet new people who enjoy hiking and being outdoors as much as we do...I am certain we can learn some more...but most important we want to support an organization that has a mission to:  Promotes the protection, enjoyment, and understanding of the mountains, forests, waters, and trails of the Appalachian region.

I will leave you with a few of my favorite pics from the last few hikes...till next time stay active and stay adventurous!!!
